Martina Hall, owner of Jomama's Yarmouth, is a proud immigrant from the island of Jamaica (Montego Bay). Ms. Hall has lived on Cape Cod for 9 years and is also a licensed realtor, helping buyers and sellers all over Cape Cod. When asked why she chose the name for her restaurant business, Martina explained that prior to owning this restaurant, she worked for the head store/restaurant in Orleans MA for a number of years. As an employee, she worked all positions from dishwasher to sandwich maker to cashier etc. She knew the restaurant inside out and was captivated by both the business and the original owners. Initially Martina got word that the owners were selling the Yarmouth location and she took a leap of faith (already knowing all that she knew about the business) and bought the Yarmouth location under the terms of it being a franchise. JoMama’s Yarmouth is known for its famous New York Bagels. Their menu consists of both breakfast and lunch. A few items you can find on the menu include delicious bagels with flavored cream cheeses, breakfast sandwiches, cold and hot sandwiches, soups, coffee, smoothes, cookies, salads etc. and they also make catered sandwich plates for meetings!

A business loan was never obtained after numerous attempts. Even though Martina found it discouraging, she didn’t let that obstacle hinder her opportunity. With the inner drive fueled by determination, Martina maxed out all her credit cards and her savings along with help from her family to make JoMama’s Yarmouth a reality and her new found business. ‘’Struggles are inevitable in this line of business’’, Martina explained. From not having enough employees and having to be at the restaurant daily prepping and working on the food line, to paying bills and credit cards back.  Martina learned to juggle her business and its expenses along with town requirements and state approvals with a grateful and humble heart. When asked about her five year goal, Martina explained that she is working towards owning a few more franchises (not knowing all the locations as yet). As a business owner nothing is easy. "There will be struggles, trials, and disappointments. But if your dream means everything to you, giving up is never an option. Stay consistent and remember if one option doesn’t work, try another", is the advice Martina is giving all entrepreneurs.
