Mr. Roberts is from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Both he and his wife migrated to the U.S. in 1995. Mr. Roberts is the Pastor of Marston Mills Community Church. Apart from the love for his community and natural giving nature of his personality, Mr. Roberts saw becoming a realtor another way he can give back in a very beneficial way. He always had the interest and aptitude for the career and decided last year to take action on his interest in this field by starting his studies in Real Estate through classes at Cape Cod Community College. He was successful and passed his state exam, after which he signed up with Exit Realty as his broker.

When asked what real estate is like for him, Mr. Roberts stated that “he gets great pleasure in facilitating a persons or families purchase of their new home or the sale of an existing property by doing the research and advising them in the right direction. The sense of achievement and excitement always warms his heart." At the moment, he specializes in residential real estate but would also take the opportunity if it arose for him to enter into the commercial aspect of real estate. Since he started his real estate journey, he shared that the only issue he faced was trying to figure out which brokerage firm to sign up with, especially since there aren’t a lot of realtors that are African American on Cape Cod. As for mistakes made along the way, he decided he had to change his mindset and enter into his new career with fresh eyes and a better understanding as to what his customers need, and to avoid all misconception about Realtors. As his short term goal, Mr. Roberts explained that he sees himself as becoming the owner/broker of his own company within the next five years. Also, near the top of his profession and as a success story for more Black African American men and women. His advice to others who have an interest in starting their business/career journey is to roll with the ups and the downs. Never get discouraged because of the hard times. Success doesn’t always come at the first attempt, but the key is to stick with it. Consistency is key.
